Build Day Live! Educating Your Enterprise
Use the OCI Network with Your vSphere on OCVS
In our work with the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS), we have seen far better cloud network integration than we experienced with other VMware on cloud products. Uniquely, OCVS has your ESXi hosts and NSX inside your own cloud network with no requirement for a VPN. The result is that there is a public cloud platform immediately alongside your vSphere based VMs and the ESXi hosts in your OCVS cluster. You might even view the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as similar to a second compute cluster in the same datacentre as your OCVS vSphere cluster. The OCI can deliver services directly to your OCVS hosts or VMs. Utilize cloud-native services or install applications in compute instances; you can use OCI services just for migration or as part of your infrastructure modernization. Compute Instances and vSphere VMs Our leading test application was VMware’s Horizon View VDI platform to accommodate fictional staff forced […]
Keep Your Existing Operational Process on Oracle Cloud VMware
Operations teams often struggle to handle the diversity of the enterprise IT landscape. Adding public cloud and Kubernetes has expanded the range of infrastructure and applications that require operational support. The last thing operations teams need is something familiar that they must manage as something new, yet that is how most vSphere on cloud products work. We found that the Oracle Cloud VMware Service (OCVS) is the most enterprise-friendly of the products that we looked at during our project with the CTO Advisor team. It is no accident, the team that built the OCVS platform, and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), in general, want to be friendly to enterprise IT teams. The OCVS cluster that we deployed integrated with our existing vSphere environment as if it were simply another data center. After the initial deployment, all of the operational tasks took place in the usual vSphere and NSX consoles, where […]
vSphere on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: vSphere Cluster Deploy Wizard
The core of the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) is the vSphere cluster and the deployment wizard. In this video, Thom Greene walks Alistair Cooke through the deployment wizard and the cluster that is deployed. The duo uses the networking and jump host that we deployed in the first video to see the vSphere cluster. In the next video, they will join the Oracle cloud and this cluster’s NSX network to our on-premises network so that in the fourth video we can join the vSphere management for hybrid management from on-premises to OCVS.
About Build Day Live!
Build Day Live! focuses on showing people how your product will fit in their data center. It is – in so many words – an alternate source material and marketing product. We do Day 1 Installation into an infrastructure, and go over the pros and cons with your leading engineers, support, and more.
Build Day Live! also gets a deeper insight into the company, finding out why this product exists, and how it can benefit the company 5, 10, or more years down the road.
