Intel Announces Cascade Lake Xeon, Optane DC Persistent, Ethernet 800, and More at Data Centric Innovation Day
As a part of the Tech Field Day team, we were part of the Intel Data-Centric Innovation Day in San Francisco, CA. Here, we were treated to Intel’s next generation of products to speed up the data center, give us low latency, and ultimately pass it through the network more securely. During the event, Intel announced seven new technologies that will shape 2019 and beyond. Intel Cascade Lake Xeon D-1600 to 9200 Processor The Intel Xeon processor series just brought out up to 56 cores of processing power, with a newly rebuilt integrated memory controller. Over 50 SKUs, 4.5TB memory per socket with 1 to 8 sockets. The D-1600, the scalable 8200, and 9200 processors with Intel AGILEX FPGA. A demonstration to show the power of the floating point rate beat out the current record (282 fp_rate) with 522 fp_rate. No doubt this new processor set can perform, but it’s […]
How VM data is managed within an HPE SimpliVity cluster, Part 2: Automatic management
This blog is the second in a 5-part series on VM data storage and management within HPE SimpliVity powered by Intel®. A customer recently asked how virtual machine data is stored within HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure, and how that data affects the overall cluster capacity. This 5-part blog series dives into HPE SimpliVity architecture, explaining how VM data is stored and managed within a cluster. In the first blog of this series, I explained how data that makes up the contents of a virtual machine is stored within an HPE SimpliVity Cluster. In this article, I describe in detail how the HPE SimpliVity DVP (Data Virtualization Platform) automatically manages this data, and how administrators can manage it as the environment grows. In particular, I will focus on the Intelligent Workload Optimizer (IWO), a core feature of the HPE SimpliVity DVP. IWO is responsible for the automatic management of data containers, intelligently placing VMs across HPE SimpliVity […]
Introducing the New High-Density Hyperconverged Solution: HPE SimpliVity 2600
HPE recently announced the newest addition to their hyperconverged (HCI) portfolio — the HPE SimpliVity 2600. This new hyperconverged solution will complement the existing HPE SimpliVity 380 hyperconverged solution and give customers a new, highly dense platform for client virtualization. The HPE SimpliVity 2600 is optimized for space-constrained deployments, offering customers a high-density virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution, with twice the rack unit density of comparable offerings. This makes the HPE SimpliVity 2600 an ideal solution for any organization with limited data center space or expensive colocation sites that need dense compute with moderate storage.
About Build Day Live!
Build Day Live! focuses on showing people how your product will fit in their data center. It is – in so many words – an alternate source material and marketing product. We do Day 1 Installation into an infrastructure, and go over the pros and cons with your leading engineers, support, and more.
Build Day Live! also gets a deeper insight into the company, finding out why this product exists, and how it can benefit the company 5, 10, or more years down the road.
